The Easiest Way to Follow Twitter Topics – onWave Streamer

Posted by gus - Filed under Tools - 0 Comments

onWave Streamer is a Twitter tool I made last year that gives you the ability to create a topical page to keep up with any Twitter topic you specify. Just fill out the quick form and you have a unique web page which streams tweets that are dedicated to the topic you choose.

Yes, there are Twitter apps that fulfill this basic function, but the difference here is that you can share your stream and access it directly from your browser without logging into a secondary service. Also, with onWave Streamer, you can easily access each unique stream from your browser with a simple bookmark. I recommend making a folder in your browser toolbar for all your favorite Streams.

When breaking news hits the web this tool is extremely useful. You can easily follow each topic and read what other people are saying on Twitter. Many times there are topics that don’t hit the trending topics of Twitter, but are just as engaging as the Top 10. With the ability to specify a wider range of keywords, you can be sure you are receiving a wider perspective on any topic.

Here’s a quick tutorial video I made which demonstrates how to make a Stream:

One interesting Stream that I made is called Twitter Down. When Twitter goes down (as we’ve all experienced at one time or another) you can still read the panic tweets from people who tweet using their cellphones. It can be quite entertaining and, for those who are unable to live or breathe without a constant connection to the Twitter community, this tool might relieve some of the Twitter seperation anxiety.

I usually make a UFC Stream while I’m watching UFC or other sports. The Streams can be quite lively and it’s interesting to read other people’s opinions while the contests are live and underway.

Finally, onWave Streamer can help you find many like-minded people whom you can follow and/or converse with. Out of all the tools out there, this is one of the easiest ways I’ve found to meet like-minded folks on Twitter. When someone posts something interesting in one of the Streams I’ve made, I just click their name and follow them and/or send a reply. I think this is one of the missing elements that newbies to Twitter encounter when they first join – they really can’t get into it because they can’t see the relevance. This tool is a very simple way to addresses that issue.

onWave Streamer provides a simple way to follow and join in the conversation about any topic on Twitter. Give it a try today!
